Enugwu-Agidi Residents Await Peaceful PG Election with Incumbent Leading in Support

Enugwu-Agidi community is gearing up for a potentially legacy-defining President General (PG) election on December 29, with the state government ensuring fairness and the incumbent touting impressive accomplishments.

Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, confirmed in a December 23 letter that the Soludo government will uphold transparent standards, with his attendance and appointed officers on site.

Incumbent Hon. Ebuka Onuorah detailed his three-year record: security enhancements through CCTV, aid for vulnerable residents, youth development via skills training and jobs, and infrastructure improvements including bridges and roads.

"We have set a standard unmatched by any PG in Anambra State," Onuorah said.

An independent Fact Reporters Network poll revealed 85% satisfaction among residents, who plan to re-elect him, contrasted by 15% who are neutral and will abstain.

The community hopes for a calm and credible vote.

Enugwu-Agidi President General, Hon. Ebuka Onuorah, has called for prayers and safe journeys as community members prepare to return home for the Yuletide celebration. 

Ahead of the festive season, Hon. Onuorah dedicated tomorrow’s Sunday service to the safe return of Enugwu-Agidi indigenes, urging all road users to drive responsibly, avoid speeding, and obey traffic rules.

In a statement delivered at his country home following a tour of the community’s roads, Hon. Onuorah emphasized that the homecoming should be an opportunity for residents to contribute positively to the town’s development. 

He reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for indecent behaviors and called for responsible celebration, reminding everyone that Enugwu-Agidi’s reputation for peace and order must be upheld.

Under Hon. Onuorah’s leadership, Enugwu-Agidi has seen major improvements in infrastructure and safety, including the rehabilitation of key roads and the construction of the Mkpasalaku Bridge, further cementing its status as one of Anambra State’s safest communities. 

He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and work with security agencies to maintain the town’s safety during the festive period.

Ocha Brigade Enforces Clean, Healthy Anambra Policy at Main Market Amid Resistance

The Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (Ocha Brigade) on Tuesday intensified its environmental enforcement exercise at the Main Market—covering Ajasa, Sokoto Road, Ose, and surrounding areas in Onitsha—removing illegal street traders and clearing obstructions that have caused persistent gridlock in the commercial hub. Many traders had converted access roads and drainage channels into trading points, preventing motorists and visitors from entering the market to conduct business.

According to the Brigade, uncontrolled street trading across these sections of the market has severely disrupted traffic flow, obstructed emergency access routes, and compromised environmental cleanliness. During the operation, officers cleared makeshift stalls, goods displayed on walkways, and unauthorized structures placed directly on drainages—practices that contribute to flooding, pollution, and overall environmental hazards.

The enforcement team, however, faced stiff resistance at the Bright Street axis, where traders reportedly threatened to attack Ocha Brigade personnel if they attempted to enforce sanitization rules in that area again. A similar confrontation occurred around the White House section of the market, where some individuals attacked Ocha Brigade vehicles and warned operatives not to return or pass through their zone in future exercises.

Speaking after the operation, the Managing Director of Ocha Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, commended his officers for their courage and resilience despite the hostility. He reaffirmed that the exercise is continuous and forms part of a statewide effort to restore order, maintain cleanliness, and ensure free movement across Anambra. He further warned that residents and traders who have failed to desilt their drainages or provide proper catchment pits will face legal consequences.

Comrade Anere also appealed to Ndi Anambra for cooperation, urging the public to support the agency by reporting blocked drainages, houses releasing waste improperly, and any environmental violations. Anambra Govt Backs Ebuka Onuorah as Legitimate PG, Denies Any Factional Interim Authority or December 29 Power Grab

The Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs has authoritatively put to rest weeks of orchestrated confusion in Enugwu-Agidi community, Njikoka LGA, by formally recognizing Hon. Chukwuebuka David Ebuka Onuorah as the substantive and continuing President-General of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU). 

In a communiqué issued on November 26, 2025 (Ref: MLGCCA/CM/010/T/276), Commissioner Hon. TonyCollins Nwabunwanne explicitly declared: “That Hon. Chukwuebuka David Onuorah is the substantive President-General of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union,” thereby debunking a malicious online publication that portrayed Onuorah as “estranged,” “arrested,” and already replaced.

The same communiqué, emanating from a high-level reconciliation meeting held at Government House, Awka, on November 26, scheduled the next EBU executive election for December 29, 2025, and mandated that it be conducted under the supervision of the current (Onuorah-led) executive in strict compliance with Sections 26(2) and 26(9) of the union’s constitution.

 This single official document has demolished the foundation of a widely circulated hatchet job titled “Enugwu-Agidi Sets To Elect New President General On December 29th” authored by one OkeyChris, which falsely claimed that a “14-man NEC” meeting on November 30 had installed an “interim PG” (Ozo Kenechukwu Darlington Okoye) and set up an electoral committee to prematurely eject Onuorah.

Residents and stakeholders have roundly condemned the OkeyChris article as sponsored propaganda designed to create confusion and stampede the community ahead of the constitutionally recognized December General Conference. 

The story had sensationally alleged that the state government had “arrested” a crisis caused by Onuorah and endorsed the factional moves. In reality, no arrest has ever taken place, no interim leadership has been recognized, and the Ministry’s November 26 directive, signed by the Commissioner himself, completely invalidates every claim made in the false report.

The Commissioner’s letter further directed Onuorah to immediately convene a National Executive Committee meeting under the outgoing executive to select three Returning Officers, submit their names to the Ministry by December 3, 2025, and conduct the election by secret ballot with accreditation from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on December 29. 

Copies of the communiqué were sent to the Special Adviser on Security, the Commissioner of Police, the Igwe of Enugwu-Agidi, the Mayor of Njikoka LGA, and the DPO Abagana, confirming the Soludo administration’s determination to ensure a violence-free, transparent transition.

Njikoka LGA Chairman, Hon. Prince Chidolue John Clarence Nwankwo, who also received the communiqué, confirmed to newsmen that neither his office nor the Ministry has declared the PG position vacant or recognized any parallel structure. 

“The Honourable Commissioner has spoken clearly. Hon. Ebuka Onuorah remains the substantive PG until a new executive is sworn in on December 29 or 30, in line with your constitution,” he stated.

Supporters of the embattled PG hailed the government’s intervention as a decisive blow to months of smear campaigns, including the November 20–23, 2025 suspension letter signed by 87 persons (which Onuorah dismissed as a “beer-parlour document”), September 2025 women’s protests over alleged land grabbing, and repeated online attacks. 

They pointed to Onuorah’s tangible achievements; graded roads, enhanced security through state-supported vigilantes, scholarships, and welfare packages, as the real reason behind the sustained onslaught by a vocal minority.

As Enugwu-Agidi prepares for the December 29, 2025 polls, community leaders have urged all factions to respect the Ministry’s directive, disregard the discredited OkeyChris publication, and work together for a peaceful election. With the Anambra State Government having spoken unequivocally, any attempt to parade an “interim” administration or conduct parallel elections now stands clearly exposed as unconstitutional and destined to fail. 

The community looks forward to a credible transition that will consolidate the gains recorded under the current leadership and usher in sustained peace and development.

Enugwu-Agidi Indigenes Throw Weight Behind Ebuka Onuorah as PG Election Nears

As the town prepares to vote for its next President-General on 28 December 2025, a clear picture is coming out: most people living in the community want Hon. Ebuka Onuorah to continue in the job, while some of our brothers and sisters abroad are still angry because of stories they read on Facebook and WhatsApp earlier this year.

People at home say they can see the good things Ebuka has done with their own eyes.

“I walk on the new roads every day, my children cross the new bridge to school, and the town hall now looks beautiful,” said Mama Ngozi Eze, a popular trader in Eke market. “We know Ebuka is working hard for us.”

Chief Emeka Nwosu, an elder in the community, added: “Anybody who comes home will see the changes. The stories abroad are old news. Many were exaggerated by people who just want the seat.”

Over the past three years, Ebuka’s team has:

Built the road from Enugwu-Agidi Junction to Ugwu-Ogwu

Fixed the big Mkpasalaku Bridge

Renovated the community secretariat

Given monthly money to poor widows and old people

These projects were not easy. Ebuka used his good relationship with the state government to bring them home.

Of course, no leader is perfect. Earlier this year some people complained about levies and the way some decisions were taken. There were also loud arguments about land and a few suspensions. Some women even protested in September. But many residents now say most of those issues have been settled or over-blown on social media.

Mrs Adaora Umeh, a mother of four, told our reporter: “Every leader will offend somebody. What matters is what you can see on ground. Ebuka has brought more development in three years than we saw in a long time. We are voting for him again.”

Even some of those who were angry before are starting to calm down when they visit home and see the new roads and bridges for themselves.

A youth leader who did not want his name in print said: “The people abroad love our town, but many of them have not been home in years. When they come for Christmas, let them drive on the new roads and talk to us. Most will change their mind.”

With only a few weeks to the election, the message from Enugwu-Agidi people at home is simple: they are proud of the progress and want Ebuka Onuorah to finish what he started.

“Come home, see things for yourself, and vote with your heart,” many residents are telling their family members abroad.

The election on 28 December will show whether the good work people see every day will speak louder than the old stories on social media.

Ebuka Onuorah, PG Enugwu-Agidi: In Spite of Sterling Performance, Victim of Palace-Induced Propaganda – Research Reveals

Amid escalating tensions in the historic town of Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area, a new investigative report has cast Hon. Chukwuebuka David Onuorah, the President-General (PG) of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU-Nigeria), in a light far removed from the villainous portrayal dominating recent headlines. Despite a barrage of accusations including land grabbing, illegal levies, and leadership overreach, this research uncovers a narrative of exceptional community service overshadowed by what sources describe as a deliberate smear campaign orchestrated from the palace of Igwe Michael Chidozie Okekeuche, the traditional ruler.

The report, compiled from interviews with over 50 community stakeholders, archival records of EBU projects, and cross-verified petitions, reveals Onuorah's tenure as a period of unprecedented infrastructure and social upliftment; achievements that have irked vested interests, particularly those aligned with the palace.

A Record of Transformation Amid Adversity

Elected in a democratic process in early 2024, Onuorah inherited a community plagued by insecurity, crumbling infrastructure, and unresolved boundary disputes. Far from the "dictator" label affixed by protesters, his administration has delivered tangible milestones that have positioned Enugwu-Agidi as a model for self-driven development within Anambra's Awka Capital Territory.

Key accomplishments include:

Enugwu-Agidi Junction to Ugwu-Ogwu Road Reconstruction: A 5km asphalt road project, lobbied through Onuorah's networks in the state government, completed in August 2025 at a cost of ₦450 million. This has reduced travel time by 40% and boosted local commerce, with over 200 businesses reporting increased footfall.

Revitalized EBU Secretariat Complex: A ₦150 million upgrade transforming the dilapidated town hall into a modern civic center equipped with solar power, conference facilities, and youth training hubs. Opened in July 2025, it now hosts free digital skills workshops for 500 indigenes annually.

Mkpasalaku Bridge Construction: Addressing chronic flooding, this ₦200 million bridge, funded via federal allocations Onuorah secured, was inaugurated in September 2025, safeguarding farmlands and preventing annual losses estimated at ₦100 million.

Indigent Stipends Program: A welfare initiative disbursing ₦10,000 monthly to 300 vulnerable households; widows, elderly, and disabled, totaling ₦36 million since inception. This has been praised by the Anambra State Ministry of Social Welfare as a blueprint for other unions.

These projects, verified through site visits and state records, were executed without a single reported embezzlement, contrasting sharply with pre-Onuorah eras marked by stalled initiatives. Community elder, Chief Emeka Okafor, who served on the project oversight committee, stated: "Ebuka brought resources we never dreamed of. Our roads were death traps; now, they're lifelines. The attacks on him are envy disguised as justice."

The Shadow of Palace-Orchestrated Propaganda

Yet, for all his gains, Onuorah's leadership has been mired in controversy, culminating in his suspension on November 25, 2025, by a faction of the EBU Central Executive Committee (CEC). A 17-point allegation letter accuses him of financial opacity, illegal suspensions, and palace invasions – charges this research finds riddled with inconsistencies and traceable to palace influences.

The probe reveals a pattern of "palace-induced propaganda" dating back to February 2025, triggered by Onuorah's public petition against Chukwudi Tansi, a suspected kidnapper and palace guard. Tansi, arrested on January 30, 2025, with illegal firearms, was allegedly shielded by Igwe Okekeuche, who nominated him as vigilante commander despite Onuorah's objections. Onuorah's April 4, 2025, letter to the Inspector-General of Police exposed threats to his life from Tansi's network, leading to the suspect's rearrest.

In retaliation, palace allies; including Press Secretary Ichie Ifeanyi Ndulue, launched a media blitz labeling Onuorah a "private militia operator" and "land grabber." Ndulue's February 5, 2025, statement claimed Onuorah fabricated links to Tansi to deflect from his own crimes, a claim debunked by police logs showing Onuorah as the initial whistleblower.

Further evidence points to manipulated protests:

September 26, 2025, Women's March: Billed as a spontaneous outcry against "land grabbing," participants were reportedly mobilized via palace emissaries. Placards accusing Onuorah of selling "Mbanano lands" referenced a disputed boundary with Awka, where Onuorah actually advocated for Enugwu-Agidi's interests in state-mediated talks. Video analysis shows coordinators distributing branded materials from palace vehicles.

March 2025 Levy Imposition Claims: Accusations of a ₦6,000 "illegal security levy" stem from a misframed community security fund, approved in the December 2024 AGM but twisted in palace-fueled petitions to Governor Soludo. Receipts examined show collections routed transparently to vigilante operations, with no personal enrichment.

The suspension letter, signed by nine CEC members (a minority, as the full 13-member body was not consulted), cites "desecration of the royal throne" for an unverified "palace invasion." Eyewitness accounts, however, describe it as a lawful EBU delegation delivering a no-confidence motion against the Igwe's vigilante interference, a move quashed by state intervention in May 2025.

An anonymous CEC source confided: "The Igwe's camp controls half the village chairmen through patronage. They fund the smears to oust Ebuka because he won't bend to their land deals. We've seen forged documents planted in media."

Onuorah, speaking exclusively to this outlet, dismissed the suspension as a "cyber café fabrication" by "jealous detractors." "I've faced arrests, threats, and thug attacks – all palace-scripted. But the roads we drive, the stipends our elders receive? That's my truth. Enugwu-Agidi knows who built it."

Calls for Justice and Resolution

As Onuorah challenges the suspension in court, residents urge Governor Chukwuma Soludo to empanel an independent panel. The Anambra Commissioner for Local Government, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, has acknowledged the "multi-faceted crisis" and promised mediation.

This report, drawn from diverse sources including pro- and anti-Onuorah factions, underscores a deeper malaise: the clash between progressive town union governance and entrenched traditional authority. If unaddressed, it risks fracturing Enugwu-Agidi's fragile peace.

In the words of youth leader Miss Chioma Eze: "Ebuka isn't perfect, but he's ours. The palace whispers must stop; let facts lead."

Anambra State Shuts Down Fake Suspension Claims Against Enugwu-Agidi PG

The Anambra State Government has put to rest rumors alleging the suspension of Hon. Ebuka Onuorah as President General of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union. 

In an official statement released on November 26, 2025, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs confirmed Onuorah as the legitimate and substantive leader.

This declaration followed a high-profile meeting of stakeholders convened at Government House, Awka. 

The communiqué, signed by Honourable TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, was circulated widely and copied to top security officials, the traditional ruler, and local government authorities to ensure clarity.

The state further announced a fresh election for December 29, 2025, to elect the union’s new executive committee. 

Election procedures will include secret ballots and accreditation through village groups, designed to promote fairness and transparency.

Onuorah expressed gratitude to the state government for its role in curtailing misinformation. 

He condemned those who circulated forged documents and petitions seeking to unfairly remove him from office.

He called on all members of the Enugwu-Agidi community to disregard false claims and unify in preparation for a peaceful and democratic election process. 

The government’s decisive action has been welcomed as a step toward safeguarding community harmony.
